Colts Extend their Weekend: Sign Saturday

by Ben Cook on February 27, 2009

Fresh off releasing offensive main stay Marvin Harrison, the Indianapolis Colts resigned another, inking center Jeff Saturday to a 3 year extension.

Saturday anchors the vaunted Colts offensive line which which last year tied its own record of just 14 sacks allowed. Since Saturday became a full time starter in 2000, the line has only allowed 178 sacks over the span of 144 games, the lowest total in the league over that time span.

Talks betweent Saturday and the Colts had stalled out and it was expected that the center would hit the open market tomorrow, however the Colts saved $6 million by releasing Harrison and received an extra $4 million in space when the cap was raised from $123 to 127 million.
