The Washington Redskins have reportedly gone deep into their pocketbooks early in free agency, signing Albert Haynesworth and resigning DeAngelo Hall.

Haynesworth was at the top of this year’s free agent class and openly coveted by several teams. However, Redskin owner Dan Snyder has a history of landing the big fish to enormous deals, and this year is no exception.

Haynesworth, the former Titan signed a 7 year deal reportedly worth $100 million which dwarfed Hall’s 6 year, $54 million deal.

Hall, the 25 year old corner, received $22.5 million in guarantees just a year after getting $24.5 million in guarantees from the Raiders last year despite being cut only 8 games into his 7 year, $70 million deal.

Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth is rumored to be leaning towards testing the free agent market.

According to the Tennessean, talks between the Titans and the former All-Pro tackle have made little progress recently and the two sides remain very far apart.

Haynesworth is reportedly seeking a 6 year contract that would make him the highest paid defensive player in the league, which would require more than the $12.2 million per year and $32 million in signing bonuses (for a total value of $105 million) that Jared Allen received from the Vikings last year.

The Titans, on the other hand appear to be offering a 4 year, $36 million deal.

Needless to say, something is going to have to change drastically before the Feb 27th deadline or Haynesworth will hit the open market. While the Titans could still resign the veteran after that date, the chances will decline drastically as other teams, with more salary cap space enter the equation.
